Hamedine KANE

Hamedine Kane est né en 1983 à Ksar, en Mauritanie. Il est un artiste et réalisateur sénégalais, il vit entre Dakar, Bruxelles et Paris. Son travail s’intéresse à l’exil, à l’errance, à l'héritage et à la prise de conscience qui découle des expériences politiques post-indépendance de certains pays d’Afrique. Il questionne leur histoire récente, en particulier celle du Sénégal et rend compte de ses bouleversements et de ses aspirations, autour des notions d’Afro-nostalgie et d’Afro-utopie. Hamedine s’intéresse également à l’influence de la littérature africaine, africaine-américaine, afro-diasporique sur les engagements politiques, sociaux et environnementaux.

Hamedine Kane a participé à de nombreux festivals et biennales: Dakar et  Berlin en 2022, Momenta Biennal en 2021,  la Biennale de Taipei en 2020,  et à de nombreuses expositions dans le cadre de la saison Africa2020 en France. Son film la Maison Bleue a reçu la mention spéciale du jury au Festival IDFA à Amsterdam en 2020.

Hamedine Kane is born in 1983 in Ksar, Mauritania. He is a Senegalese and Mauritanian artist-director. He lives and works between Brussels, Dakar and Paris. His work focuses on the subjects of exile and wandering, on heritage, memory and awareness that flow from the political experience of some post-independence African countries. He questions their recent history particularly Senagal’s and testifying to the aspirations and upheavals that Senegal has been undergoing since the last century around the notions of Afro-utopy and Afro-nostalgia. He’s also interested in the influence that African, African- American and Afro-Diasporic literature can have on today’s political and social environmental commitments.

Hamedine Kane has participated in numerous festivals and biennials: Dakar and Berlin in 2022, Momenta Biennal in 2021, the Taipei Biennial in 2020, and numerous exhibitions as part of the Africa2020 season in France.His film La Maison Bleue received the special mention of the jury at the IDFA Festival in Amsterdam in 2020.
