Sara KONTAR

Sara Kontar est née en 1996 à Mosrata en Lybie et a grandi en Syrie. Elle vit et travaille à Paris depuis 2016.

Artiste et photographe, elle crée en 2021 la plateforme EyesFromSyria qui archive le travail des photographes syriens contemporains.

Dans son travail, pour pallier aux manques, aux angoisses engendrés par son chemin d'exil, par l'absence, l'éloignement et l'oubli, Sara se réapproprie des évènements qui se sont imposés à elle, les déréalise, les décolore et en fait des paysages mentaux et oniriques. A travers ses photographies, à l'aide de courts essais filmiques, d'animations en noir et blanc, elle illustre ses "racines qui font mal", cette difficulté d'être là, d'où l'on n'est pas.

Sara Kontar est en master Cinema d’Animation à l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris.

Sara Kontar was born in 1996 in Mosrata in Libya and grew up in Syria. She  lives and works in Paris since 2016.

In her work, to overcome the missings, the anxieties generated by her journey of exile, by absence, distance and oblivion, Sara reappropriates events that have imposed themselves on her, derealizes them, discolors them and makes them mental and dreamlike landscapes. Through her photographs, with the help of short film essays, black and white animations, she illustrates her "roots that hurt", this difficulty of being there, from where one is not.

Sara Kontar is doing a master's degree in Animation Cinema at the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris.
